on economics and policy for communication industries.

Johannes M. Bauer is a professor in the Department of
Telecommunication, Information Studies, and Media at Michigan State University. He has co-authored
and co-edited six books and more than fifty articles on information
and communication policy. His work is published in Information
Economics and Policy, Telecommunications Policy,
Telematics and Informatics, INFO, the Journal of Economic Issues,
and Land Economics. Recent research projects were
funded by the National Science Foundation, the Ford Foundation,
and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

Information Studies, and Media at Michigan
State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Theory and Research
from the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of
Southern California. He teaches graduate research methods courses
and introductory information studies courses. He is the co-author
of a popular introductory textbook, Media Now.
His research is on the uses and social effects of new media.
