The Quello Center’s Broadband to the Neighborhood Project is surveying residents in three areas of Detroit. We are delighted to be collaborating with the Center for Urban Studies at Wayne State University on the fielding of survey and putting their CATI system to work. Michigan State University (MSU) held a lively forum on 4 January 2016 to discuss the pending decision by the university on whether or not to participate in the FCC’s spectrum incentive auction. A second forum will be held on the 11th of January at 7pm in the College of Communication Arts & Sciences. My colleagues and I were interviewed this week about a report on global digital divides, published by McKensey,Inc’s Technology, Media and Telecom Practice, entitled ‘Offline and Falling Behind’. It is a very useful up-date on adoption of the Internet that can help refocus attention on over 4.4 billion people worldwide who are not online – over 60%.
