Ruth Shillair

Dr. Shillair has worked on many research projects with the Quello center exploring ways to improve cybersecurity practices and reduce the digital divide. She has also worked with the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre, based at Oxford University. With the team there, she has written about the societal and economic impacts of cybersecurity capacity building. Dr. Shillair has also written about the impacts of the digital divide, older adults and digital literacy, and digital access. Currently, she is looking at the impacts of AI on cybersecurity and online safety. She is director of the master’s program in the Media & Information department. Her goal is to find ways to maximize the benefits of technology while minimizing the harms.
